Welcome Meaghan and Katherine to the Sweet Pea Events Dallas Office!

Posted by Kelly Simants

I am soooo excited to write this post because I’m announcing a dream of mine that I’ve finally been able to make happen!  I am proud to introduce to you two new employees in our Dallas office – Meaghan Cody and Katherine Dunnie!!  I have always envisioned that my team would grow, and after focusing on my business plan and setting some goals for myself both personally and professionally I am finally able to make this happen!  Both of these women are amazingly talented and I’m honored to have them join our team.

So without further ado, meet Meaghan:

Meaghan is a go-getter…she jumped right in and took on “Thursday Therapy”, a monthly happy hour for the wedding industry that we host each month.  She is seen above at her first “TT” as we affectionately call it, and is already a networking queen!  I am so grateful for her excitement for all things weddings and events, and she has already contributed so much in the short time she’s been with us.  Meaghan is providing us with administrative assistance as well as working actual weddings and events as an Associate Event Planner.  She’ll be contributing to our blog frequently, so you can look forward to hearing from her directly!  She is an avid Rangers fan, loves coffee and chocolate (a girl after my own heart), and is just a blast to be around. If you’re at Thursday Therapy this week, please introduce yourself to Meaghan as she’d love to meet you!

And now meet Katherine:

Katherine has been working with us on a contract basis since October of last year, assisting with our “Month-Of” wedding planning clients.  Most recently, she has started taking on Month-Of clients of her own, and I couldn’t be happier with how organized, professional, and savvy she is! She truly is a rock star, and I’m excited that she’ll be taking on more clients of her own as an Associate Event Planner. Outside of work, Katherine is a huge Nascar fan (her sister works for Nascar so she gets the inside scoop!), loves spending time with her friends and family, and hopping on a plane for fun weekend trips!

Please join me in welcoming these two awesome ladies to the Sweet Pea Dallas team! :)

Eric & Carrie's Wedding Featured on 100 Layer Cake

Posted by Holly-Kate Foss

Look what I stumbled across today when I was doing some research! Eric & Carrie's Beautiful Outdoor Wedding that took place last August in Forks, Washington.

What an honor to have another wedding featured on 100 Layer Cake! We were also very lucky to have Emily & Casey's Wedding featured on 100 Layer Cake's website last December.

Here are some of the highlights from Eric & Carrie's Eco-Friendly Sustainable Wedding!

Hand-picked Lavender from a local farm in Sequim.

We used a fallen tree on the property to make the mini stumps on each table. They were the perfect theme for their centerpieces. Each table had an herb as the table name and was the centerpiece of the table.

A beautiful day and wedding on the Bogachiel River in Forks, Washington!

Mark & Laura are married!

Posted by Holly-Kate Foss

I met Laura this past December and knew I would love helping her plan her wedding! Laura & Mark were married just this past weekend -

Laura & Mark wanted to get married at Laura's childhood home in the Sand Point Neighborhood, with a beautiful view of the mountains and water. Their home was build in the early 1900's and is so beautiful, with so much charm! Their ceremony took place in their backyard with a little over 150 of their closest friends and family from all over the world.

They met back in 2001 in college, at Dartmouth. Mark and his family are from New Zealand and were excited to have their wedding take place in Seattle. He is such a nice guy, so easy going and excited about their wedding!

Mark and Laura currently live in San Francisco, but had made many trips back home to finalize all the details.

They decided to have their wedding reception at the Sand Point Country Club, where Laura and her family are members. It is such a great location for them, it is just down the road from their home. We worked with Amy Foster from SPCC, who was such a delight!

Mark & Laura's Wedding theme was classy meets elegant with some very shabby chic details. Their colors were slate gray and soft yellow. The bridesmaids dresses were soft yellow with the cutest yellow sashes. The men wore handsome gray suits, that looked stunning. The flowers were AMAZING! There were so many layers, details, and blended colors that made the reception hall look straight out of a fairy tale. Alexa Johnson, with Fiore Blossoms did such an wonderful job.

It was such a beautiful day, with so many well planned details! Congratulations Mark & Laura!

Here are some of the people that helped Mark & Laura with their big day:

Ceremony Venue: The Delaney Home
Reception Venue: Sand Point Country Club
All things Paper: Swash, Julie Cook
Rentals: AA Party Rentals (thank you!)

A Retro Themed Birthday Party!

Posted by Holly-Kate Foss

When Marisa Lown, of The Radical Cupcake, contacted me to help her coordinate her special birthday party...I said "of course, I would love to!"

I met Marisa last September, when I was helping Casey & Emily plan their wedding at Sodo Park. She created their wonderful organic cake and vegan cupcakes for their wedding day.

Marisa was planning a great birthday bash and I was thrilled to help her out! She knew, of course, that she wanted to serve wonderful dessert without having to make her own cake. We called Bakery Nouveau in West Seattle to help us out! We went to their cafe to taste so many wonderful french dessert options - she quickly decided on a dense chocolate cake, many individual cakes, chocolates, and parisian macaroons.

She has a tradition with her birthday celebrations to play Pool, so The Garage Billiards was the perfect location! She wanted to hold her private birthday party in The Echo Room.

Of course, what is a birthday without a professional photographer there to capture the important moments and celebration! We called Barbie Hull to help us take pictures of the party and important friends & family attending. Barbie is wonderful! We both met Barbie through an amazing non-profit called Get Hitched, Give Hope. We are all involved in this years Get Hitched, Give Hope and I cannot wait for our big night on October 28th, 2010.

Of course, what is a party without more sweets? Marisa wanted to host a candy bar and selected wonderful candy options from The Confectionery and created custom M&M's to fill the candy bar.

Marisa is such a talented lady and I was so honored to be a part of her birthday celebration. I am really looking forward to working with her to help some of our amazing Sweet Pea Events couples celebrate their big day.

Here are some of the people that helped make Marisa's Birthday a blast!

Thank you Marisa!
I look forward to seeing you soon!

Happy Anniversary Lauren & Ted

Posted by Holly-Kate Foss

I cannot believe that it has already been one year since Lauren & Ted's Labor Day Wedding!

I met Lauren & Ted in November 2008 at the Ravishing Radish Open House. We met about a week later and started working on planning their wedding shortly there after.

They met back in High School and had many family aspects that they wanted to incorporate and honor in their wedding celebration. Lauren's family is Scottish and she wanted to use her family colors in her wedding, which are red and yellow. Ted's family is Hawaiian and Japanese. They wanted to use all of their family roots in their big day!

Their Wedding Ceremony was a small and private celebration on the rooftop of their condo building in Belltown, called The Vine. They invited 40 of their close friends and family to this ceremony.

With a Reception at the Golden Gardens Bathhouse to follow with many of their extended friends and family invited. They wanted the evening to be filled with great food, music and dancing!

Happy Anniversary Lauren & Ted!

Here are some of the wonderful people that helped with the big day:

Hair & Makeup: Carina Schoen
Bartenders: A Grand Affaire
Transportation: British Motor Coach
Wedding Planner: Sweet Pea Events
Cake: Family Friend
Favors: Candy Bar

John & Alison: A Wedding in Pike Place Market

Posted by Holly-Kate Foss

I could not be more thrilled about John and Alison's Wedding tomorrow! They are one of the sweetest couples that I have lucky to worked with. Helping them plan their wedding has been such a delight -

John and Alison live in Denver, Colorado and wanted to celebrate their new lives together with a fun "destination" wedding in Seattle. They have a few family members in the area and knew they wanted to celebrate their wedding here, with some local aspects involved.

I am also very excited to meet their kiddos; Madeline, Aiden, Audrey and Brooke - I have been helping John & Alison plan the details to their wedding for a few months but have not had the privilege of meeting the kids yet. They both have children from their previous marriage and are very excited to have their little ones involved in their wedding ceremony.

(aren't they so cute!)

We are very thrilled to be holding their wedding ceremony at the Inn at the Market. This will be the first outdoor wedding that will be taking place on their private Rooftop, just outside of two of the rooftops Suites. The ceremony will take place just above Pike Place Market and Elliot Bay. It will be absolutely splendid!

The Reception and Dinner will take place at the uber talented team at Campagne. The chef Philip Pichette has helped John & Alison to create a wonderful menu for their wedding guests.
Their colors are brown & copper with a few other colors as highlights. With a pretty small ceremony of close friends and family, I am sure it will be such a beautiful day.

The florals - are going to be FANTASTIC! Miya Ferguson, owner of Willow and Bloom (also Alison's sister), will be creating the most beautiful floral decor for the wedding day. I just cannot imagine what she has in mind for her sisters wedding.

I can't wait to see them all tomorrow - it will be an amazing day!

Here are a few other amazing Seattle Wedding Professionals who are helping John & Alison with their big day:

Ceremony Venue: Inn at the Market
Reception Venue: Campagne
Officiant: Lyn Miletich
Linens: BBJ Linens
Hair & Makeup: Bellatrix Studio
